Around five hours ago, Dhruv Rathee had urged protestors to gather at Central Park, Connaught Place on 16th October. But Delhi Police took notice of it and immediately announced that the place will remain closed due to administrative reasons.
Clear Intent to Prevent Protest?
It is to be noted that there was no confirmation till yet whether the Delhi Police had given the nod for the protest at CP on 16th October.
Earlier, Delhi High Court had refused to restrain CJP and Abhijit Dipke from holding a protest at CP and the Delhi Police had informed the Delhi High Court that it will take “all possible measures” to control the situation during the protest at Connaught Place.
But the all of a sudden from Delhi Police raises eyebrows about the intention of the government, who have earlier denotified Jantar Mantar as a protest site.
The request to come at CP protest site was initially announced by Abhijit Dipke on 14th October. The call for protest at CP came after Saurav Das and Abhijit Ranka were sent to judicial custody for hoisting the flag at Jantar Mantar despite clear orders not to enter that area.
