In his recent Tweet, Vijay Mallya has opined that he is not a bhagoda (Fugitive) and that he is a permanent resident of the United Kingdom. He also states that he is legally not allowed to leave the country.

Vijay Mallya stated on this X account that he has been living in the United Kingdom since 1992.

“For all who say I am a bhagoda refusing to come to India, please be aware that I have been a permanent resident of the United Kingdom since 1992 and am currently legally prohibited from leaving this country. All this started with poster-boy actions by the Government of India who have been grossly unjust in my case.” Mallya stated in his Tweet.

Interestingly, the Tweet comes at a time when Media tycoon Dr. Subhash Chandra is facing scrutiny after it was announced that the NCLT had settled his dues with a restructured plan of just Rs 6 crore.

Mallya alleges nearly Rs 14,000 crores recovered by the government

In another tweet, Mallya shares an image where it appears that he is claiming that the amount that has been recovered from his side is almost Rs 14,000 crores, which is more than the debt that he owed to the lenders.

The outcry against Mallya intensified when the news started to emerge about his Kingfisher employees that they hadn’t been paid for months and years. But Mallya claims that he was unable to pay because of the ED.

Mallya alleges that he wasn’t able to pay his employees because the ED had attached his assets and funds in order to recover the loans.

“Affidavit filed by the ED in the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. Para 7 is the decreed debt and Para 17 shows recovered ₹14,131.60 crore in 2021 !! 5 years on I am still referred to as a fraud who cheated the Banks,” he said.

Mallya Left India in 2016 After Mounting Loans

Mallya left India in 2016 after he was unable to pay the loans taken by his defunct Kingfisher Airlines. For many years, the Indian government has been trying to fight cases to extradict Mallya from United Kingdom.
