MNS Leader Raj Thackeray has shared the controversial documentary of Modi and Adani which was created by Sabeer Bhatia and uploaded on X few days ago. The move comes after Bhatia had taken down the tweet following a request from Mumbai Police, where nearly 24 X accounts were flagged for sharing the documentary.

Sabeer Bhatia informed on X that he has taken down his tweet, which was about the documentary based on Modi and Adani. In addition to that, the Mumbai Police has also issued a notice to nearly 24 X accounts for resharing that documentary.

Did Mumbai Police Issue Notice to Sabeer Bhatia?

The Mumbai Police submitted its request to X for the removal of a documentary based on Modi and Adani, which was uploaded by Bhatia on his X account a few days ago.

Bhatia stated that, being a law-abiding citizen, he had removed the tweets upon coming to know about the request of removal from the Mumbai Police.

The Hotmail co-founder had created a new documentary based on Modi and Adani, alleging that the two have damaged the country for their personal interests. The documentary, which was also released on YouTube, had been blocked there earlier due to a government request.

After the documentary went viral on X, Sabeer tweeted that he had been asked by Mumbai Police to take down the documentary tweet.

Sabeer informed that he has complied with the request from Mumbai Police and has therefore taken down the tweet.

Misuse of Power?

The documentary by Sabeer Bhatia related to Modi and Adani may have contained a fair share of criticism. However, it is important to ask whether such an order for the removal of a post violates the constitutional right to criticise someone, especially those who have power, influence and money.

Earlier this year, the government of India amended the IT ACT where request for removal of a content needs to be complied within 3 hours. Earlier, that time period was 36 hours.
