A clip is going viral on Twitter where it appears that Sreenivasan Jain is being interviewed by Mehdi Hasan, and they are both talking about Bollywood stars being pressurized in some or the other ways to shower support on the Modi-led BJP government.

In the interview, Sreenivasan Jain, who is the founder of NewsLaundry, appears to be discussing how the BJP government may use different tactics but indirect ways to trouble the Bollywood stars and prominent personalities who do not show support to the BJP government. He cited the example of Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan’s drug case, Aamir Khan and of Shekhar Suman.

Jain also cited the example of Kapil Sharma, who was troubled big time for criticising the BJP government.

Comedian Kapil Sharma showed his support to the sentiment expressed by Sreenivasan Jain by saying, “Thank You for noticing my contribution”

Back in 2016, Kapil Sharma expressed his frustration on Twitter, targeting the Modi government that the BMC had taken ₹5 lakh bribe for construction-related approvals at his office. When the tweet went viral, the unauthorized construction at his Versova property was bulldozed.

Later, Kapil approached the Bombay High Court seeking relief against further demolition notices concerning other portions of his properties, and the court temporarily stayed additional demolition action while the matter was heard.

Sreenivasan Jain also cited the turmoil that Aamir Khan faced after he made a remark in 2016 of thinking of moving out of the country with his wife due to safety reasons.

“Another huge star, Aamir Khan, in the first term of the Modi government, all he said was that sometimes when I see what’s happening in this country, he was talking about a wave of, you know, Muslim attacks, lynchings, and so on. My wife and I think we should move outside this country. They went after him so bad that deals that he had signed, corporate deals, were canceled. There was an online hate campaign. And you just look at Aamir Khan now. ”
