Vikas Gupta, the Junior Engineer who went viral for the illegal demolition of Jagriti Mishra’s animal shelter in Delhi, has now been suspended with immediate effect. The announcement came from Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s FB account.
JE Vikas Gupta Suspended with Immediate Effect and Disciplinary Action May Happen
A few days ago, animal activist Jagriti Mishra went viral with a video in which JE Vikas Gupta came with bulldozers to dismantle the under-construction animal shelter. In the video, Jagriti enquired with the JE about sending her a notice before taking such a drastic decision, to which the JE had no answer.
When the video went viral, the Delhi CM, Mrs. Rekha Gupta, took note of the matter and personally met Jagriti Mishra, during which she not only assured strict action against the JE but also financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Several prominent personalities also came forward to help Jagriti Mishra, such as Alakh Pandey of Physics Wallah. Many social media influencers have also announced financial assistance.
Just a few hours ago, important news broke that the JE in question has now been suspended for his actions. In the statement, it was emphasized that “Public office carries a responsibility to serve citizens with sensitivity and integrity. Our government is committed to ensuring that every complaint is examined fairly and that due process is followed.”
In the letter, it is also mentioned that the government is thinking of taking disciplinary action against the JE for his actions, which apparently caused a loss of nearly Rs 70 lakhs.
As per Jagriti, the said government official was a friend with a local goon who has strong connection ties with the Aam Aadmi Party. Whether any legal action will also be taken against him is not clarified yet.
The announcement from the Delhi CM has received a lot of likes from social media netizens. Many are opining that such swift action is necessary against corrupt officials who harass the common man.
