Cricketer and Indian ODI captain Shubman Gill has shown his support for the students who are protesting. In his Instagram story, the actor emphasized that he has respect for people who believe in making their voices heard peacefully.

Gill is the first active cricketer to have voiced support for the students in the ongoing protest by CJP.

While it is not confirmed, there is speculation that there is a clause for Indian cricket players that they cannot comment on a matter if it is related to a social-political issue, or related to some controversial protest.

Now that the Indian captain has openly supported the students, it will be interesting to see if other big names like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will also say something on the matter.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar had also talked about the matter on his tweet, but many netizens said that the cricketer played it safe and didn’t say anything that could have been perceived as controversial against the government.
