In a clip that has gone viral on Twitter, it appears that a Bank Manager is locking the gates to prevent the employees from leaving after their shift.

As per the Twitter AI overview, the video is from a government bank, and one of the staff members could be heard arguing with the manager for not allowing employees to leave.

The employee could be heard saying that it is 6 p.m., while his shift was supposed to end at 5 p.m., and that he has done his tasks of KYC and EKYC, but the manager is still not allowing him to leave.

Appalled by the action of the manager, the employee asks whether such action is allowed. The manager replies that it is allowed and that the employee will get the overtime wages. The employee argues that he cannot be forced to work over time.

While the majority of the netizens disagreed with the actions of the manager, which is not ethically but constitutionally wrong, a significant section of users also opined that completing assigned tasks is very important in the banking industry, and that some banking employees feel entitled to work less during their shift.

As per the new Labour Law, the employer needs to get consent from the employee for working overtime.

It also says that If an employee agrees to overtime, then he/she will get twice the wages for each hour.
