Sabeer Bhatia is now claiming that he has neither produced nor directed the Adani Modi documentary, for which he has received legal notice from Adani.
The Hotmail co-founder gave his counter-argument on Twitter, where he mentioned that he has only distributed the documentary but has no involvement in its creation.
Let me be absolutely clear: I neither produced nor directed the documentary. My role was solely to distribute it. There is a fundamental difference between creating content and exercising the right to share it.

The Hotmail co-founder had also recently expressed surprise over the statement of Justice Aryak, who is the judge in the defamation case filed by Adani against Bhatia.
“I’m shocked by Justice Aryak’s judgment. I’m no lawyer, but I believe it strikes at the very foundation of democracy-the fundamental right to free speech. A judgment that silences citizens for speaking their minds threatens the constitutional freedoms of every Indian.” Sabeer tweeted on 27th October, expressing dissatisfaction with Justice Aryak
Free Speech is Free Speech: Sabeer Bhatia
Expressing his strong dissent to the remarks of Justice Aryak, Sabeer Bhatia argues that free speech cannot be just evidence-based speech.
He argues that the “right to express an opinion does not depend on someone else’s approval of the evidence. That’s what makes it a fundamental right, not a privilege.”
Netizens Reaction
Regarding defamation laws, the onus may be on Adani and company to prove that the defamation caused by Sabeer Bhatia’s documentary sharing has damaged his reputation to the tune of Rs 50 crores.
When Sabeer claimed on Twitter that he was only sharing the documentary, social media users opined that the counter-argument being presented by Sabeer Bhatia may not be enough in the eyes of the High Court.
The High Court had recently ordered the takedown of the Modi Adani documentary from the Internet.
