A few days ago, a surprising news came that an app was being used by pranksters in order to turn off the battery of E-Rickshaws. Now, a video is going viral on Reddit where a man can be seen turning off the ATM and turning it back on with an app. The video has sparked concerns amongst the netizens.

The video that has gone viral on Reddit and Instagram seems to be real, where a man could be seen switching off and on the ATM machine with the help of an app.

A user opined that since the battery management system could be the same in both E-rickshaws and ATMs, the app may be able to control it just like it controlled the E-Rickshaws, as news came a few days ago. Since the app uses Bluetooth connection, it can link with any Battery Management System of lithium-ion batteries that does not have a proper authentication system.

Usually many Lithium Ion Batteries comes with Battery Management System. The BMS can be accessed through an app via Bluetooth connection so that vital parameters of the battery, like temperature, charging, and discharging, can be monitored without the hassle of opening the battery.

A few days ago, news came that a Chinese app, BAT-BMS is found to have the capability through which E-Rickshaws could be powered off.

Few Indians did the cheap trick, and the ordeal caused great distress to the e-rickshaw drivers as their vehicles were brought to a halt in the middle of the road, and the drivers were forced to push the vehicles, not being able to understand what had happened.

The Indian government took swift action and ordered the removal of that app from the Apple and Google Play Store. However, the app seems to be available on many lesser-known websites and is getting downloaded due to curiosity.

But seeing the video, if the app can really control the ATM machine, then it may be a great concern for not only the masses but also for the nation as a whole.
