Very disturbing news arrived a couple of days ago when a girl named Nimisha Thakuria was found dead at a homestay in Guwahati. It is rumored that the prime accused is her boyfriend Ashiq Ali, who is from the Muslim community, and right-wing supporters believe it is a classic case of Love Jihad.
As per reports, Nimisha was 21 years old and was studying sociology at Gauhati University.
The family says that Nimisha went out and told her family that she was out with her friends and that she might stay overnight if she got late.
But a distressed call received by the mother late at night at 2 am got the family extremely worried.
As per Nimisha’s mother, Nimisha was crying on the phone and was begging for help, and said that “I can’t breathe. They are kicking me in the chest”. The family immediately went to Azara police station who helped them to locate the girl. When they reached the hospital, it was observed that the girl did not have a pulse.
Four months Relationship!
As per reports, Nimisha and Ashiq Ali were in a relationship for 4 months.
Parents of Nimisha alleged that it is a case of gangrape and murder, while the boyfriend denies it and says that it is a case of suicide.
When the police started the probe, it was found that Mintu Ali, one of the accused in the case, had his phone with lots of pictures of Nimisha and her boyfriend Ashiq Ali.
There are also reports that the homestay staffer Mintu was found destroying the evidence of the place where the tragic incident happened.
For now, both Ashiq and Mintu have been sent to 8 days’ police custody.
Police also registered a case against Ashiq in connection with Nimisha’s death and produced him before a local court on Monday. The court remanded him to police custody for eight days. The case, filed at Azara Police Station, invokes Sections 127(2), 117(2), 70(1) and 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which concern wrongful confinement, voluntarily causing grievous hurt, gang rape and murder, respectively.
Right Wing Community Warned Nimisha
Several chat screenshots are going viral on social media, where people leaning to right wing group warned Nimisha of Love Jihad. However, Nimisha not only dismissed the threat but also warned of a police complaint against the individuals who were opposing her closeness with Ashiq Ali.
