Parineeti Chopra came under the firing squad after a video from the success party of her Netflix show Shaque: Trust No One went viral on social media. The party was in Mumbai on 25th October 2026 and the video shows Parineeti cutting the cake with Jennifer Winget behind her. The video has sparked a lot of discussion around the issue of recognition and the insider/outsider divide in Bollywood. Both women have since shot down any suggestion of a rift.

Why Is Parineeti Chopra Being Criticised?

In the viral clip, Parineeti is front and centre at the cake cutting, Jennifer is in the background. Some people have been critical of Parineeti for not making space for her co-star at all. Others have said that Jennifer deserved more credit for her work on the show.

Jennifer has been lauded in the past for her performance as Maya Mehrotra in Beyhadh (a psychological thriller with a very complex female lead). There was also a discussion on social media about whether the insider / outsider dynamic in Bollywood had any bearing on the level of attention paid to the actresses.

However those reactions are indicative of what the viewers have interpreted rather than any evidence of deliberate sidelining.

What Did Jennifer and Parineeti Say?

On 28th October, Jennifer dealt with the whole thing on Instagram Stories, stating that she’d stepped back as there simply wasn’t the space. She went on to say that Parineeti had always been so kind and loving to her and that they definitely had mutual respect.

Parineeti also got in to it, saying they’d been laughing at the viral videos. Calling Jennifer her favourite co-star, she lauded her acting and took issue with people creating all this controversy.

Both statements have been issued to deny any suggestion of a feud, with the situation being completely misrepresented online. The women have both stressed that their relationship is absolutely fine.
