In a candid interview with Karishma Mehta of Humans of Bombay. Lalit Modi talked on many aspects, from running the IPL and the challenges and being declared a fugitive, to a light-hearted rant on Sanjiv Goenka.

Lalit Modi’s jibe at Sanjiv Goenka was one of the most hilarious moments of the podcast. For many of you who do not know, Lalit Modi has called Sanjiv Goenka his brother-in-law on multiple occasions.

“I bash my own brother-in-law Sanjeev Goenka, okay? He’s now the meme king. I heard from somebody the other day that he’s loving it. He loves these memes about him. He was a nobody. He was a bloody electrical king, electricity king or somewhere doing something.” Modi said.

There is no independently verified information that Goenka is the brother-in-law of Lalit Modi. The feud between them started when Goenka credited IPL for its success over the years but did not take the name of its founder Lali Modi.

“He is bringing Ratings Down”: Modi on Goenka

As if the jibe wasn’t enough, Modi hilariously blamed Goenka for the poor team performance of Lucknow Super Giants, which has affected the ratings of the IPL.

Lalit was on a rant and even went on to question the mindset of the franchise owner, which may have brought him a negative light during the incident when Goenka had an animated chat with K L Rahul. The incident received got flakked by many cricket fans.

“I never wanted him to be, I think, the worst franchise owner. He shouldn’t own a bloody franchise. He doesn’t understand. He’s a profit-and-loss-making guy. He should stick with his electricity business and his Saregama and do Saregama.” Modi said.

If it were Lalit’s way, he would have given the worst owner trophy to Sanjeev Goenka. He urged the fans to continue making memes on Sanjiv Goenka, and the highest viewed meme will be awarded with a Rolex watch.

Till now, Sanjiv Goenka has not responded to Modi’s comments in all these months.
