After criticising Kriti Sanon for the Rakhi Ad, Kangana Ranaut has now come in defence of the actress, stating that Kriti Sanon may not even have known about the costume for shooting the Rakhi Ad.
Controversy erupted a few days ago about Kriti Sanon’s Rakhi Ad, where the outcry happened because of her bralette top. Kangana Ranaut strongly condemned the costume, and many netizens resonated with her. The backlash eventually forced the company GIVA to withdraw the Rakhi advertisement.
Kangana Ranaut Now Defends Kriti Sanon
While discussing Kriti Sanon’s recent ad in an interview with Sudhir Chaudhary, Kangana Ranaut opined that the preparation of the advertisement started months ago, and the advertisers may not have briefed Kriti Sanon about the type of costume until the very last moment.
“I come from the same background. I know how advertisements are made. The budget for advertisements is very high. For one output, there are 25 – 30 alternatives. Sketching of the outfit takes place for nearly 2 – 3 months. It goes through many departments and approvals. Actors have the least part in it (decision-making).” Actors can be fooled by telling them that “We want to make you look hot and not like those conventional ads. I think Kriti is getting bashed up for no reason. ”
— Kangana said in the interview while defending Kriti Sanon
Another major reason of the outcry is believed to the Kriti Sanon’s conventional outfit for the Eid Ad. Many netizens opined that the actress valued the Islamic culture by wearing appropriate clothing but did not gave the same thought while doing the Ad for the Rakhi festival.
When Kangana had criticised Kriti’s ad, the actress then replied back “The essence of festivals is not in the clothes you wear; it is in the emotions and meaning you hold for the traditions…” she wrote, adding that women’s attire constantly invites societal scrutiny.”
In the interview, while Kangana defended Kriti Sanon, she however strongly objected to Kriti Sanon’s reply by saying that the aesthetic expression of a festival is everything. The Member of Parliament argued that things that resonate with Sanatan values of a festival were missing in the Rakhi advertisement done by Kriti Sanon.
