After the video went viral where a Junior Engineer was seen ordering removal of demolition of an animal shelter in Delhi, now the CM of Delhi Mrs. Rekha Gupta has ordered the officials to guide Jagriti Mishra to fulfill the requirements of her animal welfare shelter.

What was the matter?

A video has been going viral since few days where Jagriti stated that a local man by the name of Sonu Dabas came to her for money prior to the demolition. She also named MCD Junior Engineer Vikas Gupta who came with police and the demolition commenced without any prior notice.

Jagriti says the building was being constructed for her organization’s animal welfare work. She says officials didn’t give her a chance to submit the required documents before pulling it down. She also claims the local man threatened to pull it down again if she ever tried to rebuild it.

Jagriti mentioned that she has faced damages related to the shelter for the tune of nearly Rs 70 lakhs.

She funded the project with her own savings, borrowed money, and public donations. She also claimed that local political connections helped get the project off the ground.

However, the allegations of bribery, abuse of office and lack of legal notice have not been independently verified. The reports we’ve reviewed also do not clarify the building’s legal status or the official justification for the demolition.

CM Assures Rs 5 Lakh Help

The Delhi CM, during the conversation with Jagriti, emphasized that government officials troubling common citizens for petty reasons is not acceptable.

She directed the DCP to register a complaint against the miscreants who caused trouble to the animal activist.

“An inquiry into the Junior Engineer’s conduct has been ordered, and police have been directed to register a case against those responsible. District Magistrate has been instructed to assist her in setting up the animal shelter.

Financial assistance of ₹5 lakh from CM Relief Fund has also been assured.

Our government will not tolerate harassment of citizens or misuse of authority. Those found guilty will face strict action under the law.” said the caption of the video released by the Delhi CM Insta handle.
