IPL founder Lalit Modi has taken a jibe at Subhash Chandra over the recent NCLT row. Modi opined that when the media trial was on his case, he had requested Subhash Chandra to show his side of the story also, which he didn’t.
Regarding Subhash Chandra’s NCLT news, there is a perception going on social media and on TV channels that Chandra was allowed to get away from the debt of Rs 22,000 crores with just 6 crores of repayment debt settlement.
Lalit Modi Accuses Subhash Chandra of Playing Wrong Narrative About Him
Modi, in his recent Instagram story, accused Subhash Chandra of playing the narrative on news channels where he was portrayed as the culprit.
In 2013, the BCCI blamed Lalit Modi for serious offences including bid rigging, financial irregularities, bribery, etc. He was banned for life by the BCCI.
But Lalit Modi received major legal relief from the Appellate Tribunal under SAFEMA in July 2026 for the FEMA case relating to the 2009 IPL season being moved to South Africa.
As per Lalit Modi, he had personally told his side of the story to Subhash Chandra and thought that the narrative about him will be changed on the news channels. But that never happened, as per Modi.

Lalit Modi Slams Subhash Chandra for his Silence on the Chris Cairns Legal Case
Lalit Modi lost the case to Chris Cairns in 2012 as the court opined that Modi had failed to provide reliable evidence of match-fixing done by Chris Cairns during the Indian Cricket League. The ICL was formed and promoted by Subhash Chandra’s Essel Group.
Lalit Modi alleges that Subhash Chandra, although he promised, did not do anything when he requested the recordings of Chris Cairns fixing.

Wishes for Facts to be revealed about Subhash Chandra NCLT
Lalit Modi wished the ZEE group founder that all the actual facts about his NCLT row case will eventually emerge.
He, however, took a strong jibe at him in the end by asking how it feels when the shoe is on the other foot, meaning someone is now experiencing the same situation or treatment that they previously caused or judged someone else for.
