Revant Himatsingka, better known as FoodPharmer has requested the netizens to not call him corrupted when he does paid deals. In an Instagram and FB post, FoodPharmer addressed the criticism of people calling him “Food Pharmer Big Gya Hai (Food Pharmer has gotten sold out)” and opines that such comments “hurt” him.
FoodPharmer, who is in the business of reviewing food products, stated that he had spent a sizable amount of money from his savings in order to start the altruistic work of reviewing food products unbiasedly in India. And that money is needed for not only testing but also for legal fights against the big food corporates which is why he has started doing brand deals of products which are not related to food.
He opines that he can easily earn nearly Rs 15 crores every year by doing brand deals but refuses in order to stay ‘unbiased’.
Revant Hemantsingka has been embroiled in legal fights previously with multiple corporates like Mondelez (who owns Bournvita) and Pepsico for revealing their actual product composition. The legal fight backfired on the corporate themselves as multiple government bodies like NCPCR and FSSAI asked them to make changes to their product labelling. Bournvita was eventually told to be removed from the “health drinks” category on e-commerce platforms.
Scared of Praising Good Brands Freely
In his post, Revant HimatSinghka admits that he feels to be in an awkward position to praise a brand which he feels is truly good as people may doubt his intention.
“I can criticise brands freely but I can’t praise good brands freely because I am always scared of people doubting my purpose.” Revant wrote in his Instagram post.
In the last section of his post, he admits that he is not perfect and that he can make mistakes and that people should correct him whenever he is wrong but has requested them to not say things like “Food Pharmer is Sold Out”.
People’s Reaction
The post has gone viral on both FB and Instagram and nearly everyone has put their support behind FoodPharmer to continue his work without any fear. Many have opined that FoodPharmer should openly praise about a genuinly good food brand as people need honest information these days about the daily foods that they consume.
