Badminton star Saina Nehwal who has recently announced her official retirement reacted to the observation that Parineeti Chopra, who played her role in the biopic has unfollowed her while the host of the interview showed that Saina’s Insta still follows Parineeti Chopra.

The question was asked to her on a podcast and the badminton star look surprised but eventually responded without any fuss.

Saina opined that she didn’t knew that Parineeti Chopra has unfollowed her. However, Saina didn’t mind getting unfollowed and stated that she and Parineeti shared cordial professional relationship as they had to work together for the biopic but it wasn’t sort of something like friendship.

The host raised a valid point whether an act of following someone on social media and befriending someone for the sake of professional collaboration has become a trend in film industry.

“Actually I didn’t notice this nor did I ever pay attention to it because life has been so busy with my training and tournaments and then events. I mean, I did not pay attention to this thing and whatever we talked about, it’s not like we became friends. I never said anywhere that we had become friends or something like that. It was totally a professional work what she was there for and I knew that.”

The biopic was released in 2021 and Parineeti Chopra played the role of Saina Nehwal. The movie released on OTT after only a month of theatrical release. The movie was declared flop and disastrous in its theatrical run, however managed to earn significantly in its OTT showings.
