Veteran actor Rajpal Yadav has accused the complainant, Madhav Gopal Agarwal, of malicious intent to deprive him of work. In an interview with Zoom, Rajpal gave his side of the story related to the cheque bounce case and opined that the allegations put forth by the complainant are false.

Rajpal opined that the film Ata Pata Laapata’s release got postponed due to concerns related to the number of screens and that the complainant had agreed to take back only Rs 7.5 crores as compared to the promised Rs 8 crores.

They had all the intention to malign the film and my image”: Rajpal Yadav on the complainant

According to Rajpal, the party held a press conference that significantly impacted the film’s release. PVR, which had initially agreed to screen the film on around 1,200 screens, later reduced the number to fewer than 200. Observing this drastic change in release plans, Rajpal said he decided to call off the film’s screening.

As per Rajpal Yadav, he took back all the rights of his film after a year of disastrous theatrical run and has never sold it back.

Rajpal believes that in the quest of getting all their money, the other party made some decisions which hampered the film’s commercial success, and that their sole intention was to malign the film and his image.

“100%, they wanted to malign this film and my career. They had even circulated a letter in the film industry stating that Rajpal is not returning the money; therefore, he shouldn’t be given work. They had claimed everything falsely. Their intent is not pure.”
