Sudhir Chaudhary became the talk of the town in media industry after it was revealed that he was hired for a whooping salary. The anchor in his latest interview with Smita Prakash shed light on it and opined that he is being given the amount that he deserves.

He opined that he always wanted to earn good money through good work and that a good salary is a recognition of someone’s talent in society.

Chaudhary is currently working with DD News and it is rumored that he is being paid nearly 1 crore a month. On being asked whether he is the highest-paid journalist in the country, Chaudhary replied.

“I don’t know if I’m the most expensive or not. I don’t know because of how much money other people get paid. First of all, then we’ll have to find out how much the other anchors are getting paid. No one will pay a penny below market value or without delivery. I feel we will take whatever money we can get. Wherever I have worked, I’ve paid him every penny of that money. I have accounted for every penny and I have given very good returns on every penny that they invested in me. And here, if I am getting some X amount then I am very happy to tell you that Prasar Bharati will get more returns on it.” — [Sudhir Chaudhary on his salary conversation with ANI]

Sudhir Chaudhary on why his parents were against Journalism Career

Talking about his middle-class upbringing, Sudhir Chaudhary said that his parents were both teachers and he is their only child. His father was against his decision to enter journalism and wanted him to crack a government job which would have also enabled him to get a government home. His parents were worried that a profession like journalism may not be stable and that Sudhir would have a hard time getting married because of journalism career.

“When I entered journalism, both my father and mother were school teachers. I am their only child, and I belong to a middle-class family. Both of them would be teachers.

They always dreamed that I would get a good government job. And success means only one thing that you get a good government job and secondly my father dreamed of getting a government house. He had already been given a government house. So his minimum expectation from me was that I should have such a government job.

I hope that you too get this house after me and we can continue living here in this government house, this is his expectation.

When I entered the media, he was very disappointed and said that the media job isn’t permanent. And you’ll remember when we arrived, there was only one channel. There was only one channel. If you lose your job, you won’t find another one.

Correct. So it was a very unstable profession. So my family members used to say that you won’t even get married. Because what can you tell anyone about what this guy does? He has a job today, not tomorrow. He doesn’t have a job tomorrow. So those are the times.” — [Sudhir Chaudhary in conversation with Smita Prakash]
