Mohsin Naqvi is putting up a strong resistance and has ordered ACC officials to not “instructions that it should not be moved or handed over” to Team India without his permission.

Naqvi, who is also the PCB Chairman has been adamant on giving the trophy to Team India captain SuryaKumar Yadav personally. There is a also a strong likelihood that Naqvi will be recognized in some capacity by the Pakistani government for this strong but meaningless defiance where a chairman is hell bent on giving the trophy himself at all costs.

Earlier, there were reports tht Mohsin Naqvi has handed over the ACC trophy to UAE cricket board officials.

Due to his relentless act, Naqvi is also facing high possibility of no confidence motion by BCCI in November 2025 ICC meeting, however, it may not be easy for BCCI to do as there is allegedly no clause which allows removal of ACC president.

If reports are to be believed in Indian media, then the Pakistani government is planning to give a medal to Mohsin Naqvi for his act of denying and running away with the Asia Cup Trophy. The Pakistani government which is indirectly led by their Field Marshal Asim Munir, is planning to award the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Award to Mohsin Naqvi. This award is usually given to people who allegedly protects the nations’s dignity on international stage.

However, sources have told Journal that such award is unlikely to be given to Mohsin Naqvi for his act against Team India. While the PCB chairman has close ties with Field Marshal Asim Munir, there is no scope of getting an award for such matter. The sources also opined that Naqvi at the best may be given a recognition at the function and nothing more than that.

Pakistan people are being told the narrative that it was India who caused the delay by informing at the last minute whereas visuals and sources have clearly confirmed that India had clearly communicated long before that it won’t be receiving the Asia Cup Trophy or any medal from Naqvi if the situation arises.

It has been a long time that Pakistan has not been able to counter the thrasing they have received from India over the years. Despite losing all the matches of Asia Cup, including final, Pakistani media is rejoicing in the fact that Mohsin Naqvi was succeesful in withholding the trophy from the Indian team. Now they are claiming that BCCI’s counter to remove Mohsin Naqvi from ACC Presidentship will fall flat on its face.

Ejaz Wasim Bakhri, who is a close source of Naqvi has claimed in his latest video that BCCI wont be able to remove Mohsin Naqvi as there is no such clause in the constitution. The Youtuber also took a dig at Vikrant Gupta again for spreading disinformation amongst Indian viewers regarding the possible measures that BCCI can do to remove Mohsin Naqvi from ACC Presidentship.

Bakhri, who is a strong critic of Indian media and BCCI has time and again made claims which didn’t came to frutition. Last year, he claimed that India would be forced to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy. The tournament eventually was hosted at UAE.

Mohsin Naqvi has gotten support from the likes of Mohammad Yousuf and Tanveer Ahmed for causing drama at the post match presentation which eventually meant that Team India didn’t got the chance to hold the winning trophy.

AB De Villiers, the former South African Cricketer, has bashed Team India for the trophy scandal and stated that politics should not be dragged into sports.

Let’s talk quickly about that postmatch ceremony as team India sort of weren’t happy with who was handing out the trophy. Um I I’ve got a bit of a smirk on my face cuz I don’t feel that belongs in in sport. Um, politics should stay aside. Sport is one thing and it should be celebrated for what it is. Quite sad to see that, but hopefully they will sort things out in the future. It does put the sports players, the sportsmen, the cricketers in a very tough position, and that’s what I hate to see. Um, it was quite awkward there at the back end, but let’s focus on what’s the most important. India looking really, really strong.
— A B De Villiers said in his video

It is surprising to see that De Villiers bashes India for dragging politics into sports, but did not say a word against the PCB chairman’s political tweets during the Asia Cup tournament. Naqvi, on many occasions, had previously used politically aggressive words for India in his tweets. De Villiers did not bother to say a word about that, but schooled Indian management for causing drama at the Asia Cup post-match presentation.

In a controversy marked by conflicting claims, PCB’s Mohsin Naqvi has strongly denied that he has apologized to BCCI recently for his trophy withholding act after the Asia Cup Final match. The ACC meeting was held on 30th September 2025, and reports appeared that the BCCI officials strongly condemned Naqvi’s egotistical act. Reports also emerged that Naqvi had expressed regret for the whole fiasco and also tendered an apology in the ACC meeting. However, the PCB chairman has now refuted any claims of giving an apology to the BCCI Ref..

Afridi Demands for Mohsin Naqvi’s Resignation Subtly

The PCB Chairman likely has tough days ahead, and there are swirling reports that the BCCI Officials are in no mood to let off Naqvi without any consequences. But criticism from Pakistan has also now started towards Mohsin Naqvi. Ex-cricketer Shahid Afridi has demanded his resignation indirectly.

Afridi opined that PCB is different from the Pakistani government and that cricket administration requires a lot of time and effort, thereby clearly demanding that Mohsin Naqvi should resign from the chairmanship. Before Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar too has criticised Mohsin Naqvi strongly and called him ‘senseless and chicken management’. Ref.
