After India demolished NZ in the T20 WC final, Mohammad Amir has now revealed the reasons why he didn’t think India would go in the semis, let alone win the WC.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Amir had opined that the Indian team was in a transition period ever since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired from the T20 format, which is why he didn’t back the men in blue.

Amir had earlier gained media attention after he called Abhishek Sharma a “slogger”. He recently took a strong jibe at Mohammad Kaif.

“When people asked me why I was not backing Team India in this World Cup, I felt that there was no Rohit, no Virat, and no Jadeja, and these new boys would need some time to adapt. Bumrah was the only bowler who had been performing consistently over the years, so I thought it would take them time to perform the way they have done today in a World Cup tournament.”

During the show Hasna Mana Hai, Amir had again bet against Team India and opined on his YouTube channel as to why India needs to be wary of the Blackcaps in the final.

Myth Busted That Only Bowlers Win you Matches: Mohammad Amir

Amir heaped praises on Sanju Samson on his back to back sensational knocks, which eventually steered India to the WC win on home soil.

“In this tournament, the likes of Sanju Samson have proven that even batters can now win you matches and tournaments. You saw how India chased 195, then made 250 against England, and today again scored more than 250 in the final. So this myth that only bowlers win matches has now died.

India deserves huge credit as they outclassed New Zealand. Hats off to the Indian team — you have won two World Cups in a row. It is a big achievement.”
