Taapsee Pannu finally got married to Mathias Boe in the year 2024 after a 9 years of engagement. The two have been in a relationship for 13 years and got married in a traditional wedding ceremony in Udaipur after doing a court marriage in December 2023, where they simply signed the papers.
Why Taapsee Was Advised to Get Married as Per Indian Laws?
In a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Taapsee revealed that she was strongly advised to get married in Indian courts because if unfortunate scenarios happen like separation or divorce, then the laws are more favourable to women in India, especially related to settlement and alimony.
She was cautioned that if she gets married as per outside laws, there could be a possibility that she would have to pay her husband as part of the settlement if the relationship doesn’t go as expected.
Taapsee stated that she had set certain conditions for marriage, and one of which was that she would live in India. She clearly says that while she can move to Denmark, but its highly unlikely that she would leave India permanently.
For the people who don’t know, her husband, Mathias Boe, is a famous former Danish Badminton player. From January 2021 – August 2024, he was the coach of the Indian Badminton team, where he mostly coached Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.
She also stated that her husband has never burdened her with relationship status and that she feels the same before and after the marriage. She jokes that due to such freedom in her relationship, she sometimes forgets that she is married.
Has properties in her name
The actress said that even after marriage, she strongly believes in maintaining financial independence. That is why the properties in India are solely in her name, while her husband’s properties in Denmark are owned only by him and not jointly with her.
