Yesterday, Rajeev Sardesai while doing his prime time show made an announcement that raised eyebrows. While he revealed that he has turned 60, he also said that he will continue pursue his passion of newstelling.
The sentence that caused stir amongst the viewers was “Thank You for your love, loyalty and for watching the show, which is the number one prime time show in English news channels”
Ever since that announcement, social media has been trending with rumors that Rajdeep Sardesai may be resigning from India Today. There are some sections of social media which believe Rajdeep has been terminated by the parent organization for his recent views on POK.

Controversial comment advocating PoK to be given to Pakistan fuels exit speculations.
In Jan 2021, Sardesai was taken off TV for two weeks for spreading Fake News during farmers protest.

There are only three possibilities
- Rajdeep made the announcement as it was his 60th birthday and that he will continue as before.
- Rajdeep has given his resignation over pressure from internal editorial team for his recent views on POK which received massive criticism.
- Rajdeep is going to be terminated by the news organization and that it has been conveyed to him which compelled him to made the emotional announcement which we saw.
Rajdeep’s criticism for the present government and its strategies is widely known. At the same time, he is considered as someone who go disproportionately soft on the opposition parties.

There was a time when Rajdeev was taken off-air for a brief period in 2021. He was also cut off from a month’s salary as a punishment to his fake news that portrayed the central government in a bad light during the farmers protest. Rajdeep had claimed that a farmer died during the protest from police gun shots. However, later it was confirmed that the farmer actually died because his tractor overturned.
Will he join Youtube just like other Youtubers who resigned earlier from Corporate Media Houses?

Over the months and years, many prominent journalists have resigned (or were terminated!) from media houses that have undergone change in ownership, especially NDTV. If the rumors are true that Rajdeep has resigned or his corporate life is nearing end very soon, then he may come on Youtube to continue his passion of newstelling.
Journalists like Abhisar Sharma and Punja Prasun Bajpai were forced to leave their well-paying jobs because it was rumored that their criticism for the Modi government was too pinchful.
Finally, let us be very clear that no official announcement has come that whether Rajdeep has decided to left or has he been fired!
