Faye D’Souza was forced to move away from her daily operations for the channel. While she remains associated with Times Network, it is not clear whether she was allowed to have any substantial influence on content creation like before. In a recent podcast with Soha Ali Khan, Faye D’Souza revealed that she was being unconventional and creative with her work with Mirror Now.

According to Faye, she started to speak on mass issues instead of sticking to potholes and civic problems, which not only raised the eyebrows of the management but also meant that Faye’s work and projects started to get monitored more thoroughly, unlike before.

Many people believe that it was the political influence that forced Faye to steer away from her work.

It happened because I was coloring outside the lines so the brief that I had been given very clearly was to stick to potholes and you know roads and uh civic city problems and I started you know looking at larger issues uh that I believed were important.

So initially there would be a couple of phone calls saying hey you’re not supposed to do this story and I say oh was I not okay sorry it was a lot of like asking forgiveness instead of permission u but effectively what happened was the space started to shrink uh they put someone over my head to sort of watch the stories I was doing I was asked to submit um you know whatever story I chose to do that day to management so that management could approve it.

So they started to shrink.

There was very clearly less and less space to do the work I wanted to do on a daily basis. That space was shrinking on a daily basis until I said, “Hey, this is not working out for me.” And we decided to part ways.
