Prominent personality Sabeer Bhatia has taken a dig at actor Suniel Shetty for his remark that his 15-month-old granddaughter Evaarah hero-worships PM Narendra Modi.

A few days ago, there was news that Suniel Shetty’s granddaughter puts sweets and other worship items on the photo frame of Narendra Modi every morning.

Bhatia strongly condemned such an act and opined that instead of hero worship, people should show devotion to a cause, and that children should instead worship principles, values, and ideas, and not personalities.

In an interview a few days ago, Suniel Shetty talked about his granddaughter worshipping Prime Minister Modi.

“I’m a huge fan of this. You know, I’m not talking about a party, I’m talking about a leader. The leader excites me, it excites me. As much as I love my country, I love that man. There is something about him.

You won’t believe it, my granddaughter is fifteen months old. Every morning, somebody had told her, ‘Modi ji.’ That’s it. She saw one photograph somewhere—one of her nannies showed it to her at the airport. Now every morning she comes, there is a Sai Baba book in which there is a big photograph of Modi ji. She opens it and says, ‘Modi ji, Modi ji.’ Then she goes to the idol of Ganpati, brings an imaginary laddu, and feeds it to him.

I have never told her this, nor has her mother, nor has her nanny. The nanny only said, ‘Modi ji.’ There must be something. There is something. And she isn’t the only child. I know others too…”
“From fifteen months to sixty-five years, absolutely, he has captured them.”

“And nobody—we have not said a word about him or anything. She will say, ‘Modi ji.’ So what is it? There is something magical about it. I’ve always said I’m a huge fan of him.”
— Suniel Shetty

Bhatia has been an open critic of the BJP and the Modi government and is vocal on the ongoing issues in the country. He has recently lent his support to the Cockroach Janta Party protests.
