For the first time, Major Harshit, the brother of Twisha Sharma, has revealed an incident that happened during the wedding proceedings that indicated dowry harassment by Girbala Singh and her family.

While Twisha’s death had sharply raised dowry speculations as the prime cause of her ordeal, her brother Harshit Sharma recalled the ordeal that the family had to face during the wedding proceedings when Giribala Singh had called for an urgent meeting with Twisha’s mother.

In an interview with Republic TV, Major Harshit Sharma revealed the time when the wedding was going on. During that time, the wedding had to be halted abruptly when Girbala Singh requested Twisha’s mother for an urgent meeting. Harshit said that his mother returned from the meeting while crying, indicating that Girbala Singh and her family had probably asked for unreasonable demands during the meeting.

“I am not directly privy to this conversation but this happened during the wedding. Giribala called me up asking for my mother to go see her. She (Harshit’s mother) was getting ready for the wedding. We had to stop the wedding proceedings that time just for the mother to go see Mrs. Giribala. And that is the time of the incident when they were probably demanding.”

When asked whether the trouble had started immediately during the wedding ceremony, Harshit responded affirmatively and revealed that his parents initially chose not to tell him about the matter.

“Yes, definitely. Even then, my parents had chosen not to tell me about this. I was told about this quite some time later. I only knew that my mother was coming out crying from there. And they were complaining about the proceedings. We had given our heart and soul to those proceedings. Everything that we had, our heart, soul, money, and resources. And they chose to call my mother and sent her back crying during the wedding proceedings.”

Giribala Singh, in multiple interviews earlier, had refused any dowry demands from Twisha’s family.

Samarth and Twisha met on a dating app and courted each other for some time before tying the knot in December 2025.
