Ajit Anjum, a senior journalist, just escaped a big fire that erupted in the Gaur Green Avenue housing society in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, where he allegedly stays.
Online videos and posts depicted thick smoke and flames spreading through areas of the residential complex, and caused panic among the residents. A number of videos shared on social media seemed to depict the crowds surrounding the buildings with the fire department teams rushing to the location.
Videos and statements available on the Internet suggest that the fire propagated quickly along several floors of the building, and residents were trying to leave the building when firefighters were trying to control the fire. The incident was also reported by Ajit Anjum himself on social media calling it a major accident within the society.

With videos of the scene going online, several users were concerned about the safety of the people trapped in the building. In certain videos, fire was observed climbing up the high-rise buildings as smoke engulfed much part of the apartment block.
Online reports stated that the fire extended to places near Ajit Anjum apartment but it is not clear how much property has been destroyed. The reporter is said to have escaped safely amidst the commotion.
A number of locals also posted concerns online concerning emergency preparedness and the rate of the response to the incident. It was observed that fire brigade teams were working hours to control the situation.
