Youtuber Sachin Awasthi, whose ordeal during the Jeju Island visit has shocked the country, has lambasted the Indian media and the Indian embassy in Seoul after they issued the “Unclear” guidelines just a day ago regarding travel to Jeju Island.

Sachin, in his latest video, questioned the Indian Embassy for not raising a strong stand for the rights of Indian citizens and opined “Palla Jhaad Liya” for their advisory issue without taking any strong action against the responsible officials who troubled the couple and kept them in jail like detention center for 38 hours before allowing them to come back.

The YouTuber opines that the Indian government could have had a more proactive stance, as they acknowledged Indian tourists facing similar issues time and again during their visit to the Island.

“They tried to portray as if it was my fault”: Sachin Awasthi on Indian Media

Many media houses picked up the story of the ordeal of YouTuber Sachin Awasthi and his wife. The Indian Embassy then issued a travel advisory where certain guidelines were issued, especially regarding carrying printed Visa document, the ability to show enough financial resources for travel, so that tourists may not face similar harassment that Sachin Awasthi faced.

The YouTuber took notice of the guidelines issued by the Indian Embassy after the ordeal became viral on the Internet and opined that the Indian media is trying to portray it as if the fault was of Sachin Awasthi and his wife for having insufficient documents related to travel, which led to their detention.

Sachin Awasthi: “When the advisory was issued, many media houses picked it up and, through smart wording, tried to portray as if the fault was mine.

Many wrote that the Indian Embassy issued an advisory after I was detained and listed documents that needed to be prepared.

They used the kind of smart word play journalists usually do so that it appears the mistake was mine due to lack of documents.

First of all, I had all the documents, and secondly, officials never even saw my documents.

There has been no acknowledgment of this case either, so an apology is least expected.”

‘Palla Jhaada Hai’ Sachin Awasthi on Indian Embassy Not Raising Strong Stance

Sachin states that the Indian government could have made the Korean officials produce an acknowledgement of the trouble that he and his wife faced, but stated that they were quite lethargic.

Sachin Awasthi and his Wife Deepsheeka, emphasized that they had no plans or intention to visit South Korea and that they only wanted to visit Jeju Island and then come back.

“We didn’t want to go to Korea. We had no plans. All our booking was related to Jeju Island. So why would we have taken a visa of other place if we did not had intention to visit it. Why would we do that? This advisory released by Indian officials is basically a kind of Palla Jhaada hai (Distanced themselves from the issue). I find it extremely weak step. We may not be like China or America but South Korea and Jeju have different immigrations and our Embassy should have taken a strong stand there.”
