Bigg Boss 20 contestant Qazi Touqeer has been rebuked by Salman Khan for using the word “lollipop” a number of times in his interaction with actress Kanika Mann. As seen in the promo of the Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman asks Qazi why he was still using his comment Lollipop when Kanika had told him that she was uncomfortable.

The controversy began during a playful teacher-student role-play inside the house. After saying that he wanted to study biology with Kanika, Qazi asked her if she would eat a lollipop with him, like he had done in Koi… Mil Gaya. Kanika disagreed with the comment, deeming it as “cheap” and indicating that she did not like how he spoke to her.

Salman Khan Questions Qazi’s Response

This is probably the first time that Salman Khan has scolded Qazi for a mistake. Qazi has received plenty of praise earlier from Salman Khan.

Salman tells Qazi that though his intentions may not be wrong, he should have apologized when Kanika felt bad about the comment. He says that he has seen him try to explain himself many times, instead of letting the situation be resolved through apology.

Salman enquiries Kanika if she has ever been apologised to by Qazi. When she states that she didn’t see a sincere apology, Qazi tells her that he had apologized in jest.

Salman then questions the concept of apology as a joke, stating that the Qazi should have approached the situation in a different manner.

Qazi’s Team Defends Him as the Debate Continues

On social media, Qazi’s team has taken a stance, claiming the comment was in the role-play and not meant to be offensive. The team also claimed others were painting a “tarnished” picture of the case, while his comments on Koi… Mil Gaya were “sidelined. But Kanika’s team had rallied to her side, saying she had already said she was uncomfortable with the comment and it was worse to make the comment again.

The incident has sparked division in the viewers, with some arguing that Kanika has the right to draw a line while others believe the explanation offered by Qazi is correct, that he was just joking. Now Salman’s reply has put the issue under the spotlight at the upcoming episode of Weekend Ka Vaar and contestants are likely to be discussed in detail.
