News is viral on Twitter and social media that former head coach and commentator Ravi Shastri has been approached by the ECB for the role of head coach after Brendon McCullum was sacked by the ECB from his test team head coach role after a disastrous period of test matches, which culminated at recent loss to New Zealand.

As per various social media rumors, other candidates are also in line o become the head coach of England’s test team. Ravichandran Ashwin reportedly had a few meetings with the officials recently, while Andy Flower may be the third choice.

For the fourth choice, Sangakkara name is popping up.

Shastri is in the news these days for voicing support for the youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was dropped for the 5th T20I against England.

He had a largely successful coaching tenure with Team India, especially in the red-ball format, when Team India won 25 out of 43 test matches with 15 losses and 5 draws.
